This is a gadget of the next generation since previously similar devices did not exceed the 7-inches limit. Not only is the new LCD display from Samsung bigger than other devices from the same category, it is also more environmentally-friendly, registering lower energy consumption. Due to improved transmittance of the TN-mode panel along with a luminance efficiency of the backlight, Samsung's latest innovation consumes energy as low as 6.3W. The company's new display was presented at Samsung's booth, being connected to a computer through USB2.0 cable. Probably the only drawback of this LCD display is its lifetime which is 30,000 hours (normally LCD monitors have a lifetime of 50,000 hours). This is because of the edge-lit backlight. Samsung hopes to launch its new display by 2011.
